Mother’s Day Blog Hop

Welcome to the Candy Hearts Blog Hop for April! Today we are sharing Mother's Day themed projects. After reading my post, I hope you will hop to the next person on the list below. Be sure to check out ALL the great projects the Hearts have created for you today.

My Mom's favorite color is pink, so I knew I wanted to incorporate beautiful shades of pink into this project.  I pulled out the Best Dressed 6" x 6" DSP and found the perfect pink floral paper for the job!

Here's what I did:
  1. Cut a base of Lovely Lipstick to 8.5" x 5.5", scored and folded at 4.25" on the long side.  Use your bone folder to burnish the fold
  2. Cut a panel of Old Olive to 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" - adhere to card front
  3. Cut a panel of floral DSP from Best Dressed to 4" x 5.25" - adhere to the Old Olive panel
  4. Cut another panel of Old Olive to 4" x 1 5/8"
  5. Cut a panel of striped DSP from Best Dressed to 4" x 1.5" - adhere to the Old Olive Panel, then adhere both on top of the floral Best Dressed DSP
  6. On a scrap of Petal Pink, stamp the sentiment "Happy Mother's Day" from Dressed to Impress in Lovely Lipstick
  7. Use the label die from All Dressed Up to cut out your sentiment - adhere to the striped panel (I did not put glue on the ends, I allowed them to stay raised to the level of the layers they are stacked on)
  8. Use the two rose images from Dressed to Impress and stamp on Whisper White Paper.  To ink them, use your Old Olive and Lovely Lipstick Stampin' Write Markers to apply the colors to the appropriate areas of the stamp, then apply to the Whisper White
  9. Cut the roses out using the dies from All Dressed Up and adhere to the card front
  10. Now the ribbon - I used the Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle, but I had previously dyed the spool using Blackberry Bliss reinker and water in a jar.  I let it sit for 4-5 days and then hung it to dry in the shower.  Blackberry Bliss isn't in this DSP, but I felt that the way the dyed ribbon turned out much lighter than "normal" Blackberry Bliss was very complimentary to the DSP.  If you don't want to use reinker to dye the ribbon, you can also color on it with Stampin' Blends - if you opt for this method I suggest using one of the shades of Lovely Lipstick
  11. This is a "double" bow, meaning that I wrapped the tulle into two ovals and then tied in the center to create 4 loops
  12. Adhere your bow to the floral DSP using a Mini Glue Dot
  13. Finally, add a silver leaf trinket to the center of the double bow using another Mini Glue Dot

Here is another look at the finished card:

  2. This is a really pretty card. The striped paper reminds me of a colorful sarape, which I love. Your mom will enjoy her pink card. Thank you for sharing it.
