Sunshine!!!

Welcome to InKing Royalty's May Blog Hop! During this year's blog hops, we are enjoying a year of celebrations. This month's projects celebrate Sunshine, so prepare yourself for projects that are filled with sunny images of joy in the great outdoors. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you'll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

When I think of Sunshine, I think of being outdoors enjoying the sunshine!!! What better way to enjoy the sunshine than golfing? I've used the Clubhouse Suite for this adorable shaker card - hurry to get yours, this beauty retires June 2, 2020!

Here's how to make it:

Cut and score with your Paper Trimmer:

Crushed Curry - 8.5" x 5.5" - scored at 4.25"
Crushed Curry - 5.5" x 4.25"
Country Club DSP - 2 pieces at 5.5" x 4.25" (I used two different patterns, a plaid for the focal point and golf flags for the background)
Window Sheet - 5.25" x 4" (this will allow plenty of surface to adhere to the inside of your shaker box, but not so much that you risk it peeking out on the sides)
Whisper White - 5.25" x 4" (for inside your card)

Stamp with the Clubhouse stamp set:

"Happy Birthday" in Memento Tuxedo Black on a plaid ribbon of DSP (there is a sheet that has various shapes, including the plaid ribbon you see pictured - it is sized to match the dies)

Die Cut with Stitched Rectangles:

The 5.5" x 4.25" piece of DSP that you want to be on the front of your card AND the 5.5" x 4.25" piece of Crushed Curry. Layer the Crushed Curry under your DSP and die cut the pieces at the same time. Try to center this the best you can

Die Cut with the Gold Club Dies:

Garden Green and Shaded Spruce - tufts of grass (I used 4 of each color)
Scraps of Crushed Curry, Poppy Parade and Night of Navy - golf balls (I cut 6 balls in each color, which is twice through the die cut machine per color)
Scrap of Smoky Slate - Golf Tee
Scrap of Whisper White -Golf Ball
Your stamped Plaid "Happy Birthday" Ribbon - the ribbon die that fits the section of DSP you chose to stamp on

Prepare Wooden Shaker Elements:

Pop out the wooden shapes from the Country Club Elements that you wish to use - I used golf clubs, flags and golf balls

Assemble Your Card:

Fold your scored Crushed Curry card base at the 4.25" score line and burnish with your bone folder
Adhere the 5.5" x 4.25" piece of DSP that you want to be the background of your shaker card (in my example, this piece has flags). If your background DSP has a directional image on it, make sure that the top of the image is toward the folded edge of the card base.
Set your card base aside
Now take the two pieces in which you cut rectangles out of the middles. Glue the Crushed Curry to the back side of your DSP - this will make the front of your shaker card stronger so that it can handle all the shaking it will get 😉
Using your Multipurpose Liquid Glue, apply a thin line around the inner rectangle on the Crushed Curry side of your card front - adhere your window sheet
Now take Foam Adhesive Strips and line them around the outer edge of your Crushed Curry and also about 1/4 from the inner edge. Ensure that there are no gaps on your inner rectangle of Foam Adhesive Strips, or your shaker elements won't stay visible. Do not remove the backing yet
PRO TIP: While this piece is still face down (Crushed Curry side up), lightly dust your window sheet and around the inner edge of the Foam Adhesive Strips with your Embossing Buddy. This will keep your paper elements from static-clinging to the Window Sheet and from sticking to any residual glue that may be on the inner edge of your Foam Adhesive Strips. If too much powder comes out of the Embossing Buddy, you can wipe some off the Window Sheet using a paper towel, but don't wipe too much or too hard else the static will build right back
Lie your wooden elements face down on the Window Sheet inside your inner Foam Adhesive Strip frame. When I saw "face down" I mean so that the side with the design is "looking" out your window.
Add your tufts of grass and colored golf balls - no particular order is necessary, but you want to make sure you aren't stacking your various elements; if they get stacked they will get wedged between the Window Sheet and the card base and then they won't shake
Once you have all your shaker elements arranged, gently peel off the backing of all Foam Adhesive Strips
Take your card base and carefully lay it onto the shaker box you have created, taking care to ensure the design on your DSP aligns with the direction of the card fold (this isn't important for a plaid, but it would be for flags or golf carts) and that you line up all four edges of the card base and Shaker Window. Once aligned, apply a small amount of pressure to make sure all the Foam Adhesive Strips seal to both sides of paper
Adhere your golf tee, golf ball and sentiment ribbon to the front of your card. I chose to put them in the bottom right corner, but the choice is ultimately yours!
Adhere your Whisper White panel to the inside of the card base

Now shake, shake, shake!!!

Isn't that such a pleasant sound to hear those wooden elements shaking around inside your card? I promise that the golfer in your life is going to LOVE this!!!

Here's a closer look at the die-cut Golf Ball - I just adore the detailed embossing that this die creates! It looks so realistic that you would hardly guess it's just a plain piece of Whisper White card stock!

Tulip Gardens

Mother's Day was last Sunday, and to honor four very special women, I made these Tulip Garden pop-up box cards! I couldn't share instructions before the holiday, but now that they have received their cards I wanted to take some time to show you all how I made these fun cards! Of course, they could be made for ANY occasion!!

Here are individual photos of all four:

Blushing Bride, Highland Heather, Mint Macaron

Blueberry Bushel, Seaside Spray, Garden Green

Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green

Blushing Bride, Highland Heather, Pear Pizzazz

These cards are much easier to make than you make think, once you have the dimensions for cutting and scoring. I've written out all the instructions for you below!

Cut and score with your paper trimmer:

Thick Whisper White cardstock 8/5" x 5.5", scored on the short side at 2.25" and on the long side at 2", 4", 6" and 8"
One ONE long side, cut in on your 4 score lines up to the long score line. Cut off the 1/2" tab on the same side of the score line, as pictured:

Burnish your 4 in-tact score lines on the long side
Burnish 3 of the 4 flaps that were created when you cut in on the 4 score lines. Be careful to leave the one attached to the little 1/2" tab un-burnished, you'll want this to stand up on the back side of your box.
Cut two strips of Thick Whisper White cardstock to .75" x 3.25", score at 5/8" from each end and burnish with your bone folder
Cut the following DSP pieces (for my examples I used various shades of green)

7 pieces of 1.75" x 2.5"
1 piece of 1.75" x 5.25"

Optional: If you wish to write on the back of your card, cut a piece of Whisper White to 1.5" x 5"

Assemble Card Base:

Adhere DSP panels as shown below
If you desire to stamp a "made by" marking, do so on the back of one of the flaps now, before creating the box

Use a piece of Tear And Tape on the 1/2" flap to adhere the flap to the furthest panel, creating a box like so:

Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere your two .75" x 3.25" strips inside the box - they should be in a "Z" format, so that the box can fold flat, as pictured

Stamp with the Timeless Tulip stamp set:

On a 5.5" x 4.25" piece of Whisper White, stamp 4-5 of each size of Tulip in your first chosen flower color
On a 5.5" x 4.25" piece of Whisper White, stamp 4-5 of each size of Tulip in your second chosen flower color
On a 5.5" x 4.25" piece of Whisper White, stamp 5-6 of each size of Leaf in your chosen leaf color

Cut your flowers and leaves:

Cut off the strips of the stamped images that will be punched - this way you will not accidentally punch into the image that need to be fussy-cut

Use the Tulip Builder Punch to punch out your large tulips and large leaves. Be careful to start from the correct side of your paper, so that the part of the punch you aren't currently focusing on doesn't accidentally cut one of your images

Build your Tulip Garden:

Cut approximately 10-15 strips of window sheets to .25" x 2"
Using your Multipurpose Liquid Glue, adhere some tulips and leaves to the tall back part of the pop-up box
Now, adhere a tulip to a window sheet and then adhere the other end of the window sheet to the cross-beams inside the box.
Continue adhering tulips and leaves to the strips of window sheets and into the box until you are happy with the fullness of the Tulip Garden. I prefer to work from the back to the front, using smaller flowers and placing them lower as I go
When complete, your box will lie flat for mailing - I have shown it below inside a clear envelope

Candy Hearts Blog Hop - Wedding

Welcome to the Candy Hearts Blog Hop for May! Today we are sharing wedding and anniversary themed projects. After reading my post, I hope you will hop to the next person on the list below. Be sure to check out ALL the great projects the Hearts have created for you today.

For today's project, I decided to give you a sneak-peak at a beautiful die set that will be released in our new catalog June 3! Today's Wedding Card shows you just one of the numerous ways these pieces can be used to make a beautiful card!

Here's what to do:

Cut a base of Thick Whisper White to 8.5" x 5.5", scored and folded at 4.25" on the long side. Use your bone folder to burnish the fold
Cut a panel of Silver Foil to 4" x 5.25"
Emboss your Silver Foil panel using the Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder
Adhere the embossed panel to the Thick Whisper White card base
Use the bottom layer of the Many Layered Blossoms die to cut a piece of Shimmery White cardstock
Use the top layer of the Many Layered Blossoms die to cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the top layer to the bottom layer, placing small drops of glue on several areas of the back of the top layer - I concentrated on the centers of the flowers and the thicker leaves. You don't need glue everywhere, and you don't want to use too much glue or you'll have blobs seeping out
Similarly, use the Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere your two layers to the card base, allow this glue to dry while you work on the sentiment. While difficult to capture in a photo, the Shimmery White base layer of your bouquet will provide a beautiful, subtle sparkle
On a scrap of whisper white, apply your Embossing Buddy to remove static buildup
Using Versamark Ink, stamp the sentiment "To the new Mr & Mrs" from the Last a Lifetime stamp set
Sprinkle Silver Stampin' Emboss powder over your stamped sentiment and tap off the excess
Apply heat from your Heat Tool to melt the Stampin' Emboss Powder
Use a label die from the Tasteful Labels die set to cut out your sentiment
Use a larger label from the Tasteful Labels die set to cut a piece of Balmy Blue
Adhere the Balmy Blue to the Many Layered Blossoms bouquet
Using Stampin' Dimensionals, adhere the Whisper White sentiment to Balmy Blue label
